You are right.

I did have a friend that tried warning me without giving anything away, and I called her afterwards and said, "thanks alot."

She however, loved it.

Re: The Life of Pi – Hate welling up out of love for this book.

Ooohh, I'm with you. It would have been nice if you'd told a friend what you were reading and how totally absorbed and enthralled you were! Then the friend might have told you, "Don't read the last eight pages. Seriously. Don't ask." It might have made you very curious, or you might have imagined some horrible ending for Pi and the tiger, but at least you wouldn't have had the total disillusionment of the ruined ending!

Re: Why didn’t you watch “Kings?”

Excellent summary. I can't really answer your question about why other Christians didn't watch Kings but I suspect that many were/are just like me. I would have watched it had I known it was on. I found out about the show the week after it was cancelled, checked it out on Hulu and couldn't believe they cancelled it.

I don't watch much TV. I'm not opposed to it; I am simply too busy with work, taking care of the kids, etc. So unless someone tells me about a show or I happen to stumble upon it randomly (e.g. Lie to Me...which I LOVE!!!), I won't know about it and won't watch it.

Here's a question. How can we as Christians get the word out when good things like this happen in the secular world? I see lots of criticism floating around on the Internet but not much discussion about what's good on TV, in the movies, on the news, etc.

Great post. Sorry I missed the show. Do me a favor and email me if you come across anything else like it. OK?

Re: The Life of Pi – Hate welling up out of love for this book.

Yes...I thought the same thing for a while. But as I thought about it more...Pi absolutely loved his mother. Why would he create a story so wretched and bad that included him having to watch his mother murdered. It was filled with passionate detail whereas when Orange Juice died it was defined as just sort of "happening".

I tried for a long time to believe that the story with the tiger was the true one, but it wasn't. It was the "better one." Pi was never so much concerned about truth as we was about beauty. He saw the beauty in Hindu, Christianity, and Islam, without bothering with nuisances like truth and doctrine. In his madness from living the existence he did so solitary and alone once he dispatched of the cook, his mind dreamt up the scenario with the tiger. He even journaled it. Now...the island...I believe....was real. That it truly happened to Pi. He has already killed the cook and is alone, and in his first story, he makes a point to say..."I am certain that no one will believe this, but it happened to me." As if he is saying, "Now...this part is REALLY true." This was not included in his second account because the Japenese guys already said that they didn't buy it so why rehash it.

ANYway...that may all be balderdash too. :)

Thanks for commenting

Re: The Life of Pi – Hate welling up out of love for this book.

Interesting perspective- the ending is perplexing. But frankly I think Pi was making the second story up. Not the first. Simply because the second story is unable to allegorize various bits about the first story- the algae island for example. Or the meerkat bones in his boat.....
the ending is provided to tell us that God is for the faithful..miracles happen to those who believe. For the skeptical, God/magic/miracles are as good as non-existent.

Re: YouTube - ABC “V” TV SERIES PILOT PROMO TRAILER

Dude, you still blog?

Re: The Macbook Wheel.

the spam bots have moved in .. :P

Re: Why didn’t you watch “Kings?”

good writeup .. i'll check it out on hulu..

Re: The Macbook Wheel.

That would be an excellent way to make a "DJ scratching" app!
Lol...

Re: Quick Before Sinking - Coffee Depot - “A MUTED SOUL”

Must be sooo nice to have a good voice.....
Must be sooo nice to be talented at playing guitar....
Must be sooo nice to be look good in black and white.....

Re: Quick Before Sinking - Coffee Depot - “A MUTED SOUL”

Thats cool, make sure you send info on next show out early, I wanna come

Re: The reason Web 2.0 was invented

awesome.

Re: And now for something completely different.

Wow... that was unique.

I mean, how long do you need to practice to get that down?
